Ethical Considerations in Integrated Behavioral Healthcare Settings will examine common ethical challenges in the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) and Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model. It will begin with a brief review of ethics and the core ethical principles in healthcare settings, then define integrated behavioral healthcare settings, and the key domains in which ethical issues typically arise. These domains often relate to somewhat different ethical and professional norms associated with each discipline in the integrated care setting. Linkage to the NASW Code of Ethics will be highlighted, as will differing considerations of confidentiality and boundary management among primary care, social work, psychology and/or psychiatry professionals on the integrated behavioral health team. Maintenance of professional competence and the special challenges in particular settings (e.g., pediatric clinics, rural health clinics) will also be discussed. Ethical frameworks will be applied to real-world clinical scenarios inviting input from and inclusive discussion with webinar attendees.
