A Guide to Understanding Human Trafficking and Familial Trafficking
It is estimated that around 28 million people worldwide are being trafficked for sex and labor. In the United States, of those youth who are trafficked for sex, studies have shown upwards of 40% are trafficked by a family member. Familial trafficking requires a different pathway to navigate for professionals as the trafficker is a caregiver or family member of the person being trafficked. In this webinar we will better understand Human Trafficking, what defines it, where it happens, how it happens, who are the traffickers, who are the victims and what can we do to recognize and prevent human trafficking. We will also focus on familial trafficking. A form of trafficking where the parent, caregiver or other family member is trafficking a child. Familial trafficking requires a different pathway for providers and professionals to navigate in order to support the child and provide care for them.
